InkCycle Expands Remanufactured Inkjet Product Line

September 1, 2008 - page(s): 132
LENEXA, Kan. — InkCycle added another tool for traction for dealers in its newest product line release — remanufactured inkjets for wide-format printing.

This initial release of cartridges compatible with the Designjet 5000/5500 series printers includes remanufactured versions of the HP 81 dye-based series (K,C,M,Y,LC,LM) and the HP 83 UV pigment-based series (K,C,M,Y,LC,LM).

Unlike desktop printers, wide-format printing is a business built on volume production, which provides the dealer more opportunity for larger dollar and greater profit repeat sales. While there aren’t as many wide-format printers in the marketplace as desktop printers, the annual volume is more than $8 billion and climbing, according to Lyra Research.

Most users of the product line will be large commercial printers, sign shops, and billboard printers, although there has been a recent introduction of the wide-format printer in ad agencies, engineering firms, and retail chains.

“We have utilized emulation chip technology with unique new ink formulations that create perfectly matched colors and superior quality when printing in large and wide format situations,” said Milagros Santos, director of research and development. “We know users of this product can not afford production problems, so we’ve created a virtually seamless ink set mixed with an aftermarket chip that creates exceptional performance.”
