Samsung Partners To Offer Network Connectivity for MFPs

November 2, 2005

Samsung Electronics America and silex technology america announced a partnership that will enable businesses of all sizes to enhance the capabilities of a variety of Samsung multifunction printers by offering silex USB device servers to add full local-area networking capability for printing, scanning and faxing functions. Additionally, Samsung will also offer silex’s SecurePrint, a unique biometric-based printing security solution to its MFP and laser printer offerings, that uses fingerprint identification to provide the industry’s highest level of document printing privacy.

Samsung's Printer Business Solution Team will now offer enterprise and small business clients silex USB device server and SecurePrint products as part of a value-added printing solution.

Unlike conventional print server products, silex’s broad line of wired and wireless USB device servers, such as the SX-2000WG and SX-1000U, are designed to provide LAN or WLAN connectivity for various USB devices including the printing, scanning and faxing components of multifunction printers. This instantly converts many Samsung non-network ready printers and multifunction printers to a shared network resource.

In addition, silex’s SecurePrint, comprised of a silex FUS-200N fingerprint reader and a silex SX-5000U2 USB device server, offers Samsung’s line of laser printers and MFPs a fingerprint-based document printing security solution that increases document printing privacy by requiring a user fingerprint authentication on each print job to be printed on the networked printer, eliminating the possibility of sensitive documents being seen by unauthorized eyes.

Now Samsung printer users can enjoy the convenience, security and freedom of remotely using multifunction printers and laser printers by adding these silex network connectivity option products. Samsung tested and certified the compatibility of silex USB device servers, as well as SecurePrint, with most of its Multifunction and Laser printers, including MFPs such as the SCX-4720F, SCX-4521F, and SCX-6320F and laser printers such as the ML-2550 series and the new robust ML-3560 series.

“This partnership will greatly benefit all Samsung customers, especially those in healthcare, education, government, and finance, by offering them more value-added, innovative solutions to fully utilize their Samsung MFPs across the network and keep confidential documents secure,” said Tony Venice, Senior Printer Business Solutions Marketing Manager, Samsung Information Technology Division. “silex’s device servers and SecurePrint package bring a cost-effective and flexible solution to Samsung’s Multifunction and laser printers, one we’re more than happy to pass on to our existing and new small business and enterprise customers.”

“We are seeing rapidly growing needs for network connectivity with the multifunction printers in various business applications. By combining silex device servers with Samsung’s Multifunction printers, businesses are able to maximize the employee productivity and return-on-investments in their network devices,” said Keith Sugawara, Vice President silex technology america, Networking Division. “We’re excited to be able to help Samsung and its customers by providing a solution that makes its multifunction machines even more accommodating and secure in today’s demanding business environments.”
