Oasis Imaging Products Inc. has entered into a license agreement with Heiber Patent Licensing Corp. concerning four patents owned by Heiber that pertain in different ways to methods and apparatus for separating and resealing toner cartridges.
Historically, these patents have been referred to as the Baley patents. The license applies to the sale and use of various products used to remanufacture and reseal toner cartridges. The license agreement provides that all Oasis customers are covered for past and future purchases of seals, sealed hoppers, clips, rails, foams and separating equipment from Oasis.
"We are pleased with our agreement with Heiber," said Mike Van Dalsum Jr., vice president of Oasis Imaging Products. "This agreement allows Oasis customers access to patented separating and sealing technology owned by Heiber without concern for claims from past and/or future infringement. Oasis customers using our products will be fully licensed to separate and seal many cartridges under the Heiber Patents."
Al Brooks of Heiber said, "If a remanufacturer buys all of its components from a licensed supplier like Oasis, then the remanufacturer does not have to pay a royalty. Remanufacturers are not obliged to pay a royalty to Heiber each time a virgin or non-virgin unit is remanufactured using all components, including a seal or sealed hopper, purchased from Oasis."
